I was early attracted to computers as I was curious to know how computers work and what is possible to accomplish with them. Like most kids I have been always fascinated by games and graphics and I used to dream in inventing my own. During my Bachelors in Computer Science at Mozambique, I was very interested in developing of small games for different platforms. One of my achievements was the participation in one team developing the Ntxuva African Game for Android platform.
During a large portion of my professional career I worked also in designing and developing websites for corporations. However, there came a time when I didn’t find amusing any more to work on such tasks, interact with customers and ultimately spend many hours of my life working on meaningless thousand of lines of CSS and Javascript 🙂
When I finished my Bachelors, my interests in software development shifted. I started to get attracted to the idea of use technology to help to to manage many of the problems that Mozambique is facing now instead. Education is a very big concern there as only half of children finish the primary school. Health have been other area where remote populations have been struggling to face epidemics like malaria or cholera.
At the present moment, what I want to do is still uncertain. I believe though, that before acting I need to get the understanding.
Hence, My next goal is to get a better understanding of the social factors, cultural values and implications of technology in education at remote communities in Mozambique.
